Yoga Styles
Air Yoga
Air Yoga or Aerial Yoga is a type of yoga which uses a hammock or yoga swing to allow students to perform postures that they may not ordinarily be able to attempt on the yoga mat. It combines traditional yoga with moves inspired by pilates, dance and acrobatics.
Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga is a fast-paced, intense, flowing style of yoga founded by Pattabhi Jois in the 1960s. The exact same poses are performed in the exact same order. This rigorous style of yoga is physically very demanding because of the constant movement from one pose to the next, so this style of yoga is definitely not for the beginner. In Mysore, India, people gather to practice this form of yoga together at their own pace—if you see Mysore-led Ashtanga, it’s expected you know the series.
Hatha Yoga
Hatha yoga is a generic term that refers to any type of yoga that teaches physical postures. Hatha classes are a classic approach to breathing and exercises and are a great entry point to the practice for beginners.
Integral Yoga
Integral is a hatha style of yoga based on the ideas and principals of Sri Aurobindo who sought to give followers guidelines on how to improve their lives. Integrating mind, body, and spirit, classes also include pranayama, chanting, and meditation.
Kundalini Yoga
In this style it’s all about releasing the kundalini energy in your body said to be trapped, or coiled, in the lower spine. Kundalini classes really work your core and breathing with fast-moving, invigorating postures and breath exercises, with the purpose of freeing energy in the lower body and allowing it to move upwards through all the chakras. These classes are pretty intense and can involve chanting, mantra, and meditation.
Resonance Yoga
With Resonance Yoga, you will use your voice while doing Asana (Yoga postures). You will be singing Mantras, intuitive sounds and vowels, depending on the intention of the Asana. Sound and movement are combined to get a deeper connection with the body, to allow to let go what is not needed anymore and to feel a sensation of release.
Sattva Yoga
The Sattva Yoga practice is an integration of Hatha Yoga, meditation, prānāyāma (Yogic breathing), Kriya (repetitive movements), mantra, freedom movement, and transcendental wisdom.
Vijnana Yoga
Vijnana Yoga is the combination of Sitting (meditation), Pranayama (breathing), Asanas (postures) and Relaxation (integration) in addition to the practice of the Vayus (10 winds) and the Vital principles.
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa was adapted from Ashtanga yoga in the 1980s. In Vinyasa classes, the movement is coordinated with your breath and movement to flow from one pose to another. Vinyasa styles can vary depending on the teacher, and there can be many different types of poses in different sequences.
Yoga Dance
Yoga Dance is a style of yoga that combines fluid movement with music into a yoga practice. Yogis will perform asanas in rhythm with music that can be as simple as the beat of a drum or a chant, or, they can be as complex as full band music or a recording.
Yoga for beginners
The module Introduction to Yoga is specially designed for beginners of all age and horizons to make their first experience with the central methods of yoga, which are physical postures and movement, breathing techniques and meditation.
Yoga for your back
A class with yoga poses that can help address both the symptoms and root causes of back pain. Helps to find flexibility and relieve back pain. Adapted to all age.
